When was the last time that you were by yourself?
Have you ever traveled alone? If you have, then you know. Solo traveling brings experiences, adventures, and lessons you’ll not be able to get anywhere else.
Feel lost now that school is done? Tired of working for someone else and feel like you were meant to do other things with your life? Had a break-up and feel like it’s the end of the world? It’s not.
Empower yourself, pack your bag, and hit the road. Solo traveling is the meditation of the 21st century.
Have you heard about the gap year?
A gap year is a period, typically an academic year, taken by a student as a break between high school and university. This is highly encouraged in lots of European countries and Australia as well. It’s ok to not know what comes next in your life; there’s no need to rush ourselves into a career. I personally don’t think “the college life” is for everyone.
Go to school, graduate, go back to school, “be someone”, get married, pay your student loans, pay your mortgage, have kids, put them through the same system as your parents put you through…then you’re forty…then what? Life is not a journey, there’s no special destination waiting for us. Life, then, is more of a dance…make sure to dance with it while the music’s playing.
Still have fear of what could happen?
Below are posts that will offer advice of where to go and how to do it safely. I’ll make sure to include monthly interviews with backpackers from different backgrounds and ages so you can find as much inspiration and information you need to take the plunge. Once you discover the gifts and lessons that solo traveling brings, it might become your favorite way to explore the world.
